CIBC Aventura is CIBC’s proprietary travel rewards programme, earned on CIBC Aventura credit cards. Aventura points are redeemed primarily through CIBC’s Aventura Travel Assistant (powered by Expedia for TD’s competitor) for flights, hotels, and car rentals — with the ability to book any airline at fixed point costs based on dollar value.

How Much Is an Aventura Point Worth?
| Redemption | Value per Point |
|---|---|
| Flights via Aventura Travel Assistant | ~1.0–1.5¢ |
| Hotels via Aventura | ~0.8–1.2¢ |
| Statement credit | ~0.5¢ |
| Gift cards | ~0.6–0.8¢ |
| Merchandise | ~0.5¢ |
Best value: Book flights through the CIBC Aventura Travel Assistant where points cover the full ticket price at roughly 1–1.5¢ per point — including taxes and fees, unlike some award programmes.
How Aventura Points Work for Flights
Aventura uses a fixed-value model: your points are worth a set amount against the ticket’s cash price, rather than following an award chart. This means:
- No seat restrictions or blackout dates
- Book any airline (Air Canada, WestJet, Porter, or international carriers)
- Points required = ticket price ÷ ~$0.01–$0.015
Example: $500 CAD return ticket = ~35,000–50,000 Aventura points.
The CIBC Aventura Travel Assistant searches flights in real time. You can apply points to any portion of the cost or cover it entirely.
Aventura vs. Aeroplan (CIBC’s Other Programme)
CIBC issues both Aventura cards and Aeroplan Visa Infinite cards — giving cardholders a choice:
| Feature | Aventura | Aeroplan |
|---|---|---|
| Airline flexibility | Any airline | Star Alliance + Air Canada |
| Peak value | ~1.5¢/pt | ~2.5–5¢/pt (business class) |
| Simplicity | High — fixed value | Medium — award chart knowledge helps |
| Best for | Flexible travellers; non-Air Canada routes | Air Canada/Star Alliance frequent flyers |
Verdict: Aeroplan delivers higher peak value for Air Canada loyalists; Aventura is simpler and more flexible for travellers who use multiple airlines.
