How Scene+ Redemptions Work

Scene+ uses a consistent 1¢ per point redemption rate across virtually all categories. This is very different from Aeroplan or Air Miles, where the value per point varies significantly by how you redeem.

Grocery Redemptions (Sobeys Banners)

Redeem Scene+ points at the checkout of any participating Sobeys-banner store. Points are applied as a payment toward your grocery bill — each 100 points = $1 off.

Minimum redemption: Typically 500 points ($5 minimum).

This is one of the most practical redemptions in Canadian loyalty programmes — you’re essentially getting cash off your grocery bill in a store you’re already shopping at.

Travel Redemptions (Scene+ Travel Portal)

Book travel through the Scene+ Travel portal at sceneplus.ca or through Scotiabank’s travel booking platform. Any flight, hotel, or car rental can be booked, and points cover the cost at 1¢/point.

You can also book travel on a Scotiabank Scene+ credit card and then redeem points as a statement credit against the travel purchase — same 1¢/point value.

Cineplex Redemptions

Redeem Scene+ points for Cineplex movie tickets and concessions at 1¢/point. This is a unique benefit from Scene+’s heritage as the original Cineplex Scene programme.

Home Hardware Redemptions

Redeem points at Home Hardware, Home Building Centre, and Home Furniture locations at 1¢/point. Useful for home renovation spending.

Gift Cards and Statement Credits

Scene+ points can be redeemed for gift cards with various partners and as statement credits at 1¢/point.

How to Maximise Scene+ Value

Stack earn at Sobeys. Swipe your Scotiabank Gold Amex (6x) AND scan your Scene+ card at checkout to earn credit card points plus the grocery partner earn on the same transaction.
Prioritise grocery and dining spend on the Gold Amex. At 6x and 5x respectively, these are among the highest earn rates in Canada for any card in any programme.
Redeem for groceries or travel — both deliver 1¢/point. Avoid merchandise or low-value gift cards if any partners offer below 1¢.
Use Scene+ Travel for flexibility. You’re not locked into Air Canada or any single carrier. Book WestJet, Porter, or an international airline at 1¢/point.
No FX fee on international purchases. If holding the Gold Amex or Passport Visa Infinite, use it abroad — the 2.5% savings adds up significantly on a two-week international trip.
