TD Rewards — Complete Guide Canada 2026

Updated

TD Rewards is TD Bank’s flexible travel rewards programme, available on TD First Class Travel and TD Platinum Travel Visa Infinite cards. Unlike airline-specific programmes (Aeroplan, WestJet Rewards), TD Rewards points book travel through the Expedia for TD portal — meaning any hotel, flight, or car rental available on Expedia can be paid for with TD Rewards points.

CardAnnual FeeEarn RateBest For
TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite$1398 pts/$1 via Expedia for TD; 6 pts/$1 on groceries/restaurants/recurring; 2 pts/$1 everywhereBest all-round TD Rewards card
TD Platinum Travel Visa Infinite$996 pts/$1 via Expedia for TD; 4.5 pts/$1 on groceries/recurring; 1.5 pts/$1 everywhereMid-tier; lower annual fee

Both cards require a minimum income of $60,000 personal / $100,000 household income.

How TD Rewards Points Work

TD Rewards points are primarily redeemed through Expedia for TD — TD Bank’s co-branded Expedia travel portal. Key redemption values:

Redemption MethodValue per Point
Expedia for TD (flights, hotels, cars)0.5¢/pt
Amazon.ca purchases0.25¢/pt
Statement credit (travel)0.5¢/pt (travel purchases only)
Gift cards0.25¢/pt or less

Best value: Always redeem through Expedia for TD to get the maximum 0.5¢/pt rate. Gift cards and merchandise are poor value.

Earn Rate Comparison

On the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite:

  • 8 pts/$1 via Expedia for TD = effective 4% return on travel bookings
  • 6 pts/$1 on groceries, dining, and recurring bills = effective 3% return
  • 2 pts/$1 everywhere = effective 1% return

On the TD Platinum Travel Visa Infinite:

  • 6 pts/$1 via Expedia for TD = 3% return on travel
  • 4.5 pts/$1 on groceries and recurring bills = 2.25% return
  • 1.5 pts/$1 everywhere = 0.75% return

Expedia for TD: The Redemption Portal

Expedia for TD is a version of Expedia built for TD cardholders. You book any publicly available flight, hotel, or car rental and pay with TD Rewards points (at 200 pts = $1). Advantages:

  • Any airline, any hotel — not restricted to one airline programme
  • No blackout dates — any available Expedia inventory
  • Pay with points + cash — split the booking any way you like
  • Standard Expedia protections — cancellation and change policies apply

The downside: 0.5¢/pt is a fixed, modest value — far below what you can achieve with Aeroplan or Amex MR on premium cabin redemptions.

TD Rewards suits Canadians who want simplicity — no award charts, no airline restrictions, no blackout dates. Aeroplan is better for those willing to optimize for maximum redemption value.

TD Rewards Expiry

TD Rewards points do not expire as long as your TD credit card remains active and in good standing.
