TD Rewards is TD Bank’s proprietary loyalty programme. Points are earned on eligible TD credit cards and redeemed primarily through the Expedia for TD travel portal. There are no airline transfer partners — all value is derived from travel bookings or statement credits (at a lower rate).
What Is TD Rewards?
TD Rewards is a closed-loop travel portal programme:
- Earned exclusively on eligible TD credit cards
- Redeemed through Expedia for TD (best rate) or Book Any Way (slightly lower rate)
- No airline transfer partners
- Fixed redemption value — 200 points = $1 at Expedia for TD (0.5¢/pt)
- Points do not expire while account is active
TD Rewards is separate from TD Aeroplan cards. TD offers two families of travel credit cards — TD Rewards cards (portal-based) and TD Aeroplan co-branded cards (Aeroplan-based). Choosing which family to hold is one of the most important decisions for TD cardholders.
How to Earn TD Rewards Points
| Card | Expedia for TD | Groceries & Dining | Recurring Bills | Everywhere Else |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite | 8x | 6x | 4x | 2x |
| TD Platinum Travel Visa | 3x | 4x | 3x | 2x |
| TD Rewards Visa | 2x | 2x | 2x | 1x |
Earn rates subject to change. Verify at td.com.
Best single category: The TD First Class Travel’s 6x on groceries earns 3 cents of travel value per $1 spent at the Expedia for TD rate (6 pts × 0.5¢ = 3¢). That’s solid — though the Scotiabank Gold Amex earns 6 Scene+ (6¢) and the Amex Cobalt earns 5 MR → Aeroplan (5¢+) on similar spend.
How to Redeem TD Rewards Points
Option 1: Expedia for TD — Best Rate
Rate: 200 points = $1 (0.5¢/pt)
Log in to expediafortd.com, book flights, hotels, car rentals, or vacation packages, and pay with points at checkout. This is the highest-value redemption available.
- No blackout dates — any available inventory can be booked
- All airlines and most hotel brands available
- Can pay partially with points and partially with your TD card
Option 2: Book Any Way — Flexible but Lower Rate
Rate: 250 points = $1 (0.4¢/pt)
Book travel anywhere (any airline site, hotel directly, other OTA) using your TD card. Within 90 days, log in to TD and redeem points against that charge.
- Useful when Expedia for TD doesn’t have the inventory you need
- Redeems at 20% lower value than Option 1
- Minimum redemption applies (verify at td.com)
Option 3: Statement Credits — Avoid
Rate: 400 points = $1 (0.25¢/pt)
Redeeming for statement credits cuts your point value in half compared to Expedia for TD. Only use this option if you have no upcoming travel.
TD Rewards vs. Other Bank Portal Programmes
| Programme | Portal Rate | Transfer Partners |
|---|---|---|
| TD Rewards (Expedia for TD) | 0.5¢/pt | None |
| BMO Rewards | 0.67¢/pt | None |
| Scene+ | 1.0¢/pt | None |
| Avion Rewards | ~1.0¢/pt | BA Avios, Asia Miles |
| Amex MR | ~1.0¢/pt | Aeroplan, Avios, Flying Blue |
TD Rewards’ 0.5¢/pt is the lowest redemption rate among major Canadian bank portal programmes. The TD First Class Travel’s earn rates are high enough to partially offset this, but programmes like Scene+ (1¢/pt) deliver more value from similar spending.
